Brand new Offices & Surgeries product launched

17th December 2008 - Following considerable demand from brokers, APC Underwriting has this week launched a new dual office and surgeries product with increased flexibility to cover most of the UK’s two million home based businesses.

According to the October 2007 Home Business Report published by Enterprise Nation the home has now become the UK’s most popular start-up location. More than 1,400 new home businesses are launched each week, accounting for 60% of the overall total. The fastest growing sectors for home businesses are professional services providers such as accountants and website developers, online trading such as eBay-ers and personal services providers including home interior designers.

While there are some standard commercial office and surgery products available, brokers looking to secure flexible cover for clients with offices or surgeries based within residential properties sometimes find it harder to place business.

The new APC product, which is underwritten at Lloyd’s, has been designed to resolve this problem and caters for both residential and commercial locations. Available via APC’s on-line trading platform QuoteMac, the dual office and surgery product offers protection for a broad range of over 200 trades to keep referrals to minimum.

The key features of the new product include:

  • All Risks cover including Accidental Damage
  • Caters for single premises and portfolio risks
  • Legal Expenses included for £100,000
  • Wide variety of optional extensions including theft by employee and computer breakdown

APC director Ian Russell said: “Home based businesses are booming in spite of the credit crunch. As a result our brokers have been looking for flexible products that cater for this growing market as well as the standard office & surgery risks. We have taken into account their specific needs and as a result our new product now covers over 200 trades regardless of whether they operate from commercial premises or from home. “
